Frequently Asked Questions

01

What is McCarrons Lakefront Alliance?

McCarrons Lakefront Alliance is a lake association with the overall goal of enhancing the health, quality and recreational capacity of Lake McCarrons. It was launched in 2019 by Amy Forliti and Chris Sluis, and it is governed by a five-member board of volunteers.

02

Why do we need a lake association?

Lake McCarrons is an invaluable resource in southeast Roseville and is a highly rated lake in terms of quality and clarity. We’d like to keep it that way. It seems that lakeshore communities with active, strong lake associations have been able to marshal more resources from county and state agencies. The volunteers who started McCarrons Lakefront Alliance believe it’s time to be more proactive in seeking out these resources, advocating for the lake, educating the public and communicating information from public entities to the community. While we are too late to prevent zebra mussels, it’s not too late to work on ways to keep them under control and prevent the introduction of other invasive species to Lake McCarrons.

03

How do I become a member?

Simply fill out a membership registration, which you can find here . Membership is open to everyone — one membership per household.

04

Is there a required fee?

No. Donations in any amount are welcome, but not required. McCarrons Lakefront Alliance is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), and all contributions are tax deductible.

05

What are donations used for?

Donations have helped offset the startup costs for McCarrons Lakefront Alliance and cover operational costs, which are minimal. McCarrons Lakefront Alliance has also used funds to purchase our own zebra mussel monitoring equipment, which is being used to collect data to supplement surveys that are done by Ramsey County. The ultimate goal is to have funds available for prevention of future invasive species infestations and for possible treatment of zebra mussels as new technologies are developed.

06

How is this different from a Neighborhood Association?

McCarrons Lakefront Alliance is focused on the waters of Lake McCarrons. We would like to acknowledge the tremendous work our neighbors have done to improve Lake McCarrons over the years, and our goal is to build upon that work and continue moving forward. The Lakefront Alliance is focused only on lake-related topics and hopes to work with community groups when appropriate.

07

Are board meetings open?

Absolutely! Anyone is welcome to attend. Agendas are posted to this website in advance, and meeting minutes and recordings of board meetings are also posted for those who want to catch up afterward. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our meetings have been held over Zoom.

08

How can I get involved?

We love to have help from neighbors who are as passionate about Lake McCarrons as we are! We have a number of ways for people to volunteer their time in everything from helping to clean out the lake’s outlet to fundraising. Check out our “Get Involved” page on this website and come join the fun! And if you have a special skill or talent that you’d like to contribute, just let us know.
